Deborah Davis
My name is Deborah Davis, but you can call me Deborah, Debbie, or Deb.
I have a BFA and a Masters in Teaching, and I taught Art at the elementary school level for over twenty years. I believe all children can utilize some form of the Arts not only for self expression, but as a means of accessing and understanding a variety of subject matters.
During my years teaching Visual Arts, I Integrated my teaching into all the curricula across the school, prekindergarten through eighth grade. Not only am I able to teach a wide variety of mediums, but I also adapt my teaching to meet the skills and needs of the individual child. Just as there is no right or wrong in Art, there is also more than one way to express oneself. My job as your child’s teacher is to help them clearly see the subject matter and then be able to properly utilize the materials at hand to bring that image to life, all the while finding joy and fulfillment in the process.
Nicole Hagg
Nicole Hagg is a visual artist and art teacher born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She is known professionally as Nyx Cole and has been making art for over 20 years. She has a Bachelor’s in Studio Art and a Masters in Fine Arts.
She has taught visual arts and art history for the past 3 years and works with a multitude of mediums ranging from graphite to oil painting. Her teaching philosophy is student-centered exploration. She believes all children are born artists, and encourages students to learn the foundational skills of art as well as to explore art as a means of personal self-discovery as individual artists.
She believes in creative problem solving and showing students that mistakes in art can be learned from and worked through. We don’t give up just because it’s getting difficult! These philosophies will help students be creative thinkers and ultimately better artists in the future.
